A Vacation From My Vacation or: How I learned That It’s A Good Thing That I Talk To People That I Don’t Know
My family and I were camping over the weekend. It was the last day and we were all packed up and even my wife and kids were in the car, when I remembered that we needed to pour water on the coals left in the fire pit. I grabbed a bowl and walked over to fill it with water to put out the fire.
On my way, another dad was getting his family ready to leave. He said to me, “Looks like you could use a vacation from your vacation.” I got a big smile on my face and started telling him that I planned my vacation time from work so that we would go camping the first weekend, then have a whole week after that to do whatever. I had planned a vacation from my vacation!
After dousing the fire and getting back into the car, I told my wife how hilarious I was. She wasn’t amused. But she did tell me that it’s cool that I can walk up to people and just start talking to them. Often she’ll think that I’m talking to someone because I know them, but I just talk to people whether I know them or not.
I don’t have a hard time talking to people I don’t know. I’m good at starting a conversation and making people laugh. In fact, one day I was at an appointment with my nutritionist and as we walked into her office she said that she loves that every time she comes to get me from the lobby, I’m making random people laugh.
I never realized it, but this is something really cool about me that I haven’t been using to it’s full potential. Right now, I just talk to people and then go my way, but what if I could change their life at the same time?
I have a little piece of knowledge that can save a lot of people’s lives. Instead of just making them laugh and talking to them for a few minutes, maybe I should tell them what I know will help them for the rest of their lives?
Do you want to know what my little piece of knowledge is? The little truth that can save people’s lives? (I’m about to get a little ChristianMovies.Com on you) It’s Jesus! Everyone has sinned and that sin keeps us from going to heaven and fellowship with God, but God sent his son Jesus to live a perfect life and die as a sacrifice to pay the price for all of our sins so that we have the opportunity to be with God forever!
That’s awesome! People need to know! I need to start telling people that instead of just making them laugh!
Do you evangelize? Is it hard or does it come naturally to you? Let me know in the comments!
