For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
When you feel bad about your sin, it’s either from God or from your own own mind and the world. If it’s from God, it leads to repentance and salvation. If it’s not from God, then you will just continue to feel bad without any hope.
When I have regrets or grief about things, I need to recognize if it is from God or from the world. If it’s from God, I need to respond and repent. If it’s from the world, I need to let the grief go, because that grief will stay with me and never produce anything good.
Dear Father, I pray that you will give me discernment to know when grief is from you or from the world. I pray that you would guide me to Godly repentance when the grief is from you, and that if the grief is from the world, I would just let it go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
