Easter, More Than Just Eggs
Without Easter, there is no proof that Good Friday meant anything
In another post, I talked about Good Friday and how it is the most holy day for a Christian. I recommend that you go read that post if you haven’t. The second most holy holiday for a Christian is Easter. Without Easter, there is no proof that Good Friday meant anything.
Good Friday was the day that Jesus paid for our salvation from sin and death. Easter was the day that Jesus proved to the world that He was God incarnate and that He has the authority to pay that price. Don’t you think that is worth celebrating?
Jesus had spent three years talking to people and training His twelve disciples to be like Him, but when He was betrayed, they were all gone. The person who had betrayed Him was one of His twelve, and I’m sure that many of the people who watched Him die were the same people who had previously watched Jesus heal the sick. Jesus had no one to stand beside Him on the cross. He was alone.
The people who were still loyal to Him could only stick around to bury Jesus. Even these people had forgotten what He had said,
“The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
Jesus knew that He would die and be raised, and He told His followers, but they had either forgotten or didn’t believe Him. Would you? I probably wouldn’t. When you’re dead, you’re dead. There’s no coming back from that, right?Jesus died on Friday, on Sunday He was alive again!
Jesus died on Friday, on Sunday He was alive again! He fulfilled what He had told His followers and destroyed any doubt that they may have had. When someone is healing sick people and baffling the most learned people at the time, you might believe he’s your Messiah, but you may still have your doubts. But when that man dies an undeniable death and comes back alive again, there is no doubt that He is more amazing than anything you could have ever imagined.
Jesus Christ paid the price to save humanity from it’s sin, but we would have absolutely no reason to believe it if He had just died. When He rose, Jesus started a fire within the souls of His followers that caused them to go and spread the Good News to the world. Without this event, I doubt anyone would be a Christian today. The resurrection is what makes Christianity different from any other religion
The resurrection is what makes Christianity different from any other religion. Every other religion was started by a man who is dead. Our religion was started by a man who died, but conquered death and rose again, and is now seated in heaven waiting for you an me to decide to follow Him.Easter is a day to celebrate that Jesus Christ, our savior, is alive!
Easter isn’t a day that we should take lightly. It’s not a day about candy, eggs and spending time with our families. Easter is a day to celebrate that Jesus Christ, our savior, is alive! He is alive and seated in heaven awaiting the day that He will be released to come join you and me.
This Easter, take some time to get away from the eggs and candy, and personally thank Jesus that He rose from the dead and is alive and waiting for you!
